About Us

Welcome!

The Columbia Center for Eating Disorders is part of the New York State Psychiatric Institute, located at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City. Established over thirty years ago, the Center’s longstanding mission has been to conduct research to better understand conditions including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and obesity and to develop novel, more effective treatments.

As a nationally recognized treatment/research program, we are able to offer treatment at no cost to patients who are interested in and eligible for our current research studies. Those who choose to participate in our studies are essential collaborators – we could not do what we do without their scientific contribution.

About The Blog

This blog developed as a way for the members of our team to give back to those of you who have so generously contributed to our research mission. It is a medium through which we can pass along news and views on topics related to outreach, education, recovery, and wellness for those affected by eating disorders. In this forum, our team can keep you updated on important research developments that emerge as a result of your contribution (or the contributions of others like you) and abreast of the latest findings from the scientific community at large. Simply put, we hope to bring results from the lab into real life.
