In February, I sat down with Dr. Clara Faria for an interview for the Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, to describe the findings of our recent paper examining the role of reward systems in restrictive food choices (i.e., preferring to eat low-fat foods) among teens with anorexia nervosa. In this discussion, I had the chance to share what we’ve learned over the years about food choice in adults with anorexia nervosa (as measured by a computerized Food Choice Task, publicly available on Github) and to talk about future directions in eating disorders research.
