history of eating disorders
An Eating Disorders Awareness Week conversation about these illnesses.

Recently, Dr. Evelyn Attia, Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medicine and Director of the NewYork-Presbyterian Center for Eating Disorders (including the Columbia Center for Eating Disorders), and Dr. Suzanne Straebler, Clinical Director of the Center for Eating Disorders outpatient programs at Weill Cornell, joined the On the Mind podcast host Dr. Daniel Knoepflmacher to trace the history of eating disorders from ancient accounts of self-starvation to their recognition as distinct psychiatric diagnoses and contemporary cultural impact.
