Coming Back Better Podcast: Family Matters, QuaranTEEN, COVID-19, and Wellbeing

Columbia Psychiatry has partnered with Psych Hub and HCA Healthcare to launch Coming Back Better, a podcast series about the impact of COVID-19 on mental health and well-being.

Across 10 episodes, this podcast takes the listener on a journey to understand the impact of COVID on all of us, to process what we have overcome and ways we have found not simply to survive, but to thrive.

In the episode “Family Matters,” several mental health professionals come together to reflect on how the pandemic transformed families. I was delighted to join the discussion (around minute 25) and share some thoughts on the pandemic’s impact on eating behavior, nutrition, and physical activity for parents and their children.

In the “QuaranTEEN” episode, experts joined the Coming Back Better hosts to review how eating habits, socializing and routines changed for teenagers during the pandemic. I joined in to offer ideas for parents (and teens themselves) to navigate this time in their lives while maintaining a healthy relationship with eating, exercise, and body image.
